Welcome to the homepage for “Awake the White and Wint’ry Queen” a concert to celebrate the Winter Solstice and the return from darkness to the season of light. The show blends original music with world-beat diversity and dance performances with a sense of spectacle. At once contemplative and stirring, it is a winter concert meant to evoke the sentiments of the season while maintaining an ancient and ageless awareness.

The show features some of the Triad’s most splendidly eclectic musical talent accompanied by varied types of international dance performance as well as projected images with spoken word. An alternative to the standard holiday offerings, “Awake the White and Wint’ry Queen” invites you to embark on a journey of emotions put forth in musical form to capture a story of the turning of the seasons.

As the impending frost signals an end to the reign of the Autumn Queen, song and dance weave a tale that leads to the awakening of the Wint’ry Queen who must rule the time when the snow flies. Her slumber is at last at an end. On the longest, darknest night of the year she comes to reclaim her crown at the time of the return to the light. The dying Autumn Queen bestows the crown upon her in a final scene of coronation so that the seasonal wheel may turn again.

We hope that you’ll join us for an evening aimed to instill the joy of the season in your heart as you accompany us to our magical realm. Through the beauty of human expression we glimpse the divine that resides within us all.
